We're not far off Raid 50: Heroes of Telemark, which publishes in November, and just like last year's Big Reveal we have another Raid coming in 2019!
Have a read of the brief decription below, and let us know what you make of RAID 51!
RAID: Operation Source: X-craft cripple the Tirpitz, Norway 1943
In September 1943, six British midget submarines crept into a heavily-guarded fjord in northern Norway to attack the powerful German battleship Tirpitz. The great battleship was a constant threat to the Arctic convoys, and one which forced the Royal Navy to keep a force of battleships constantly stationed in home waters to deal with the potential for a breakout.
After an unsuccessful attempt with manned torpedoes, a new and more sophisticated attack was then planned – Operation Source – using X-craft midget submarines. The submarines were to be towed to within range by conventional submarines, then penetrate the fjord and its defences, plant mines to detonate under Tirpitz – and then hopefully escape.
