You may or may not be aware of the astonishing feat recently achieved by 93-year-old veteran Jim 'Pee Wee' Martin.

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day, Jim completed a parachute drop into Normandy on Friday 6th June, just as he did 70 years previously.

When asked by awe-struck interviewers whether the jump reminded him of his D-Day deployment, ' back then', Jim replied 'No. There wasn't anyone shooting at us today'

What you might not know about Jim, however, is that he wrote the foreword for the immensely exciting, forthcoming 'No Victory in Valhalla'.

'No Victory in Valhalla' will complete Ian Gardner's peerless trilogy focusing on the experiences of the Third Battalion 506 Parachute Infantry Regiment during World War II. The trilogy has drawn a lot of critical praise, and the final volume is highly anticipated.

Jim's foreword is something I'm particularly looking forward to, as nothing lends a book a sense of authenticity and immediacy than the words of an experienced veteran. In case you missed it a while back, this trailer offers a teaser of Jim's contribution, and the book as a whole.

As a final treat today, we want to offer something on the blog that went out with our last newsletter.

We made the preface, foreword and first chapter of 'Tonight We Die as Men', part one of the Ian Gardner trilogy, available to download for free.

So now we're doing the same here! Simply click here to download your free PDF!
