New history app on the Battle of Borodino!

'In the fields outside the small village of Borodino, two empires clashed'

Osprey, in partnership with Aimer Media, is very excited to announce a new history app - Battlelines: Borodino 1812!

Carrying on the series of apps that started with Battlelines: Pearl Harbor, Borodino is a unique examination of the titanic struggle between Napoleon's Grande Armée and the forces of Imperial Russia.

Three interactive maps chart the course of the day's events in minute detail, and users can simply tap the map to get greater information on the key moments of the battle - from Platov's harrying cavalry charges to the final fall of the Great Redoubt. Whilst the main focus is on the battle itself, Battlelines: Borodino also gives information on the lead up to Napoleon's momentous decision to invade Russia, the road to battle, and the horrific French retreat that would follow soon after victory.

Well that's what it's about, let's take a look at what it can do.

Expandable text boxes give information on the road to Borodino, as well as the make-up of the French and Russian forces, illustrated with Osprey artwork.

Interactive maps give an overhead view of the confusing melee of battle...

...and easy-to-use overlays show the key moments in the battle chronologically. Just tap on the yellow event markers to get more information.

Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture also makes an appearance for a unique backdrop to the aftermath of the battle.
