There has been a lot of excitement around the office the last few days, originating from the desks of our sister company, Old House.  For the first time in the history of the Osprey Group, we’ve reached number one in the Amazon Bradshawsbestsellers list!

The book in question is the rather humble looking Bradshaw’s Handbook, a facsimile reprint of the 1863 British railway guide.  Some readers may recognize the book from television, where it has been busy traveling around the country.  We were lucky enough to obtain what is perhaps the only surviving copy of the 1863 edition. For several days, special photography equipment was brought into the office, so that we could make an exact copy.

Well, the book was released just over a month ago.   Its original print run of 10,000 copies has already sold out, enough to send it shooting up the Amazon charts.  But fear not, dear readers. If you’d like a copy of this little piece of British history, we’ve got another 10,000 copies arriving in the warehouse later today.  Don’t wait too long; however, most of the 10,000 are already spoken for.

Champagne was popped, photographs were taken, there may have even been a silly dance or two.  It’s a good day in publishing.

UPDATE: The book is now the top-selling hardback book in Britain.  There are only about 500 copies of the second print run left unspoken for.  Don't worry, we are turning the presses back on for a third run!
