We all get gifts that we would rather not receive at Christmas. That awful scarf. The DVD that you are never ever going to watch. Socks from Gran that are more likely to dazzle you than keep your feet warm (seriously, orange and blue?) [Go Broncos! - ed]. For a military history fan the pitfalls are even deeper. You can only receive a copy of Saving Private Ryan and Beevor's Stalingrad so many times before your resistance starts to fade. A number of years I have had to nip out early in the New Year for a bit of retail therapy to ease the scars left behind by (very kind and much-loved) relatives attempts to get a military gift for me.

I suggest you don't wait till the new year though. Below are 40 or so of the most recently reprinted books we have done.
