The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was the most prominent German fighter type of World War II – over 35,000 were built and it served in many different variants and roles throughout the course of the war. This book is the first in a series of three covering the entire history of the Bf 109. It describes the range of kits available for the early and pre-war variants, including the Bf 109s that flew in the Spanish Civil War, Poland, France and the Battle of Britain. Author Brett Green also includes the full range of markings for all these different theatres and details the numerous kits and aftermarket products available.

Brett starts off with a well-focused and very useful summary of pluses and minuses on available kits from 1/24 to 1/72 scale. It was refreshing to get this information in a concise package. Some useful color detail photos of a restored Bf-109E-4 are followed up by six sample projects that cover 1/72 to 1/32 scale, including a great essay on the Berta.
Aerospace Modeler (No.9 Volume 3, Number 9)
I recently reviewed another of the 'Osprey Modelling' series and became a fan of the individual subject series books. This book hasn't changed my mind. It will give an aircraft modeler a number of skills that they can use across all aircraft types, not just the Me. 109... I like the fact that this book can act as both a modeling source and a research source.
