This morning, to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, we have launched a new Osprey app called Battlelines: Pearl Harbor.

The first in a series of apps covering some of the most important battles in world history, Battlelines: Pearl Harbor ties in to the recent publication of our Osprey book Raid 26 Tora! Tora! Tora! - Pearl Harbor 1941 - which published last month.

The app provides an ideal introduction to one of the most infamous events of World War II, using an interactive, illustrated timeline to trace the events of December 7, 1941. Using our classic 3D bird's-eye-view maps the app shows the movement of Japanese aircraft, the positioning of American ships and depicts the valiant American defensive efforts, as they happened. The app also includes a concise introduction, explaining the planning behind the raid, the political and military reasoning behind the decisions made and an analysis of the ultimate impact of the attack.

This Osprey app was put together with the help of Aimer Media, the people behind our Para Fitness app and our Military History Quiz book app.

It is out now for iPad - an iPhone version will be out very soon!
