About this Product
Text by Bryan Philpott, with colour plates by Michael Trim and Gerry Embleton. First published in 1977 this title forms part of a special reprint of the Airwar series. Detailing the history the RAF fighter units over Europe, Bryan Philpott's book offers a chronological account of the experiences of Fighter Command pilots, their aircraft and equipment. The development of Fighter Command as the war progressed is interwoven with informative accounts of individual actions, which bring the experiences of those involved alive. Uniforms and aircraft markings are illustrated in the colour plates and contemporary photographs offer a valuable insight into equipment and conditions.
Gerry Embleton has been a leading historical illustrator since the early 1970s. Gerry specialises in the medieval period, but has a keen interest in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. An illustrator, and author, of a number of Osprey titles, he now lives in Switzerland.
