J.E. Kaufmann

H.W. and J.E. Kaufmann have written several books together on fortifications, including Fortress America: Forts that Defended America, 1600 to the Present, Fortress Third Reich: German Fortifications and Defense Systems in World War II, The Medieval Fortress: Castles, Forts and Walled Cities of the Middle Ages and The Maginot Line: None Shall Pass. They have travelled extensively in Peru, visiting key archaeological sites of the Incan civilisation. H.W. Kaufmann is a professor teaching several Latin languages at San Antonio College. She has also written the Anthropology of Wisdom Literature and has a Ph.D. specialising in Medieval Spanish. J.E. Kaufmann has also written Fortress Europe, and organised an international fortifications group known as 'SITE O' with a fortification resource website at www.site0.net and www.siteo.mgn.nl. They live in San Antonio, Texas.
