  Topic Description
Posted by: mrhistory2 my favorite indian tribes are the Sioux,Comanche, and Apache. in my opinion, the best book on the Comanches is Empire of the summer moon. they fought the Osage,Cheyenne,Pawnee,Apache,Ute,Arikara,Blackfeet,Kiowa,Arapaho Caddo,Tonkawa, ,Sioux,Mexicans,Americans, and the Spanish in the 18th century. in 1706,a group of Comanches rode into Tuscon. at the time,Spain was fighting the Apache, but settlers poured into Texas,Comanche land. the Comanche launched attacks on Missions, including San Saba in 1757, in 1759,the Spanish were defeated by the Comanches and their allies at the battle of the twin villages. the Comanche launched large raids in the 1760s and 1770s. in 1786,they signed a treaty with the Spanish and later the Kiowa in 1790, while Osprey has covered the Comanche warriors, they still need to cover the wars the most powerful, most brutal Indian tribe fought.

Better to suggest a MAA on the Spanish colonial Indian wars.

Empire of the Summer Moon is an excellent book about the Comanche, totally agree with you there. And a book on the Spanish colonial armies in the west would indeed be very welcome, it's a subject that has been sort of overlooked.
