A title on the sea peoples appeared on the book vote some time ago. Also I would recommend “Old Testament” and old biblical movies such as “Samson and Delilah” or “David and Bathsheba”. However, I do hope we can have more Osprey titles on ancient Middle East.

As always with these ancient peoples, there is the eternal question: do we really know enough about them for a full book? The Sea Peoples would be okay, there is a good story in there: Egypt being threatened and Ramses III coming to the rescue.

Still I think a title on the Sea Peoples is the best way that we can have more on the Philistines with a bunch of other peoples. For now, there’s MAA: Ancient Armies of the Middle East, Then Ancient Israel at War 853–586 BC and we know that the Assyrians conquered the Philistines. The rest of the story is in the Bible.

I would love to see a MAA on the Philistines, the story of David and Goliath always caught my attention when I was a kid.

If your interest on the Philistines goes beyond the mere Military, I recomend Trude and Moshe Dothan book "People of the Sea! In search of the Philistines"! Even as it is about 20 years old now, it still sum up the actual state of our knowledge in terms of Culture, Art, Terrtories, Wanderings, ect...

I know this is childish of me, but I visualise the Philistines charging into battle with cries like: "We don't like Jackson Pollock!" and "What's wrong with a tune you can whistle!"
