Was a real "Blitzkrieg", the NVA overrun the ARVN in only 55 days after 15 years of war, since the very poor perfomance in the 72 campaign, the NVA with soviet training and weapons, make a decisive armoured assault ending the war. Now a lot of new information is avaible for a Campaign book!!!!

In the terms of all-arms cooperation, it is perhaps more dubious to call it a blitzkrieg but it was definitely a feat of arms! Well-deserved of a campaign title and the fresh new research that exists on these fateful months makes it a very potential title indeed.

The Americans stabbed Saigon in the back, the lack of money was decisive to the defeat of the ARVN.

Osprey definitely needs more Vietnam War Campaign Books, Dien Bien Phu, Ia Drang, Easter Offensive, and Lam Son 19 would all be good titles.

The 1975 campaign would make an excellent Campaign title. Perhaps there could be a separate Raid title on not just the US evacuation Saigon, but from other parts of South Vietnam as well.

Amaral. The U$S was a drug for SV, more they have, more they want, the south was doomed, never was ready to figth ALONE. Not the french, not the EEUU, not the ARVN was ready to figth with the will of the north, they were ready to pay a terrible Price, the others not. Ho Chi Minh send a letter to Jonshon in 1965 "the war can last five, ten or twenty years, doesn't matter, Vietnam will win"

I will have to agree in part, xeneise. Yes, it is true the Communists were more willing to fight and were more prepared. The war could only be maintained by massive influxes of support (money, weapons, food, etc) provided by the Superpowers to the two combatants. The support Hanoi received from Moscow and Beijing never wavered, while the support of the US was always intermittent and fluctuated with their internal problems (the Americans still do not understand the difference between governament policy and state policy, as a French general denounced by the frivolous conduct of the war in Afghanistan, and he said that before this mess in Iraq). As Tarawa said, the congress just dropped off a foreign policy that was in effect since the 1950's. And by no reason whatsoever! The US gained nothing with this decision. It lost a valuable ally (one of the largest food productions in the world and one of the biggest populations in the region), was humilliated in the eyes of the world, sended the oppsite message to their other allies around the globe (instead of "Trust the US, we will not fail", other countries just understood that the Americans could not be trusted, as they could leave anytime regardless of the actual situation in the field; just as a kid gets tired of a new toy and go somewhere else).
