There is no Osprey coverage of the first Dutch war of independence (other than the Spanish Armada, which is a sidebar to the main struggle). While there is good Osprey coverage of the Conquistadors' there is nothing on the Spanish armies in the Netherlands, or Italy. An MAA series on the Spanish, Italian, French and Dutch armies of the late 16th, early 17th centuries would be much appreciated. Comments and suggestions please.

Being from Holland and this was our War of Independence, sure, I'd be up for this! Prince Maurice was recognized at the time as a military innovator, so he should get some credit! |

I agree with scratchbuilder and WickedMessenger. And in the same vein, I'd like to suggest that Gonzalo de Cordoba, his army, his wars and the man himself need to be covered by Osprey. |

There's a CAM on Pavia 1525, and an MAA and Warrior on the Landsknechts, but I agree, there's a lot more that should be covered on these topics. |

The Dutch war of independence lasted 80 years, and helped topple Spain from its superpower perch. It most definitely needs a book. All the warfare of that period does. |

There was also the global war with the Portuguese at this time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oA6zzGFuUQA |

Yes, that's true! It even caused the Dutch to colonize part of Brazil for a while. Although I guess this part of our history is more well known in Brazil than in my own country. |

@WickedMessenger The Brazilian Army Day is celebrated in Aril 19 because of the Second Battle of Guarapes in 1648. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Battle_of_Guararapes |

This year is the 525th anniversary of the Dutch navy. A worthy foe. |

Weight for weight the Dutch Navy has always been one of the best in the world. If this book were to cover the 16th and 17th centuries, it could incorporate the Herring Wars between Holland and England. |
