Reading my previous post, I could have asked if more recent research has turned up any new information since the publication of the two Warrior titles Late Roman Infantryman and cavalryman.
As I said narrowing it down a bit to the Western half of the Roman empire might help no?
We seem to know so little about the period from 320 AD to 476 AD
With Catalaunian Fields as the author said there was a fair bit of guesswork going on.
Educated guesswork but still....
It seems to me that the Germanic peoples had very little shame.
Hiring themselves out to all and sundry who had the coin. Corrupted by civilisation and bits of shiny.
The Huns are the same.
Just saying, different times, reasons and all that.
Eastern Roman Empire followup books for the future?
