Death of Sir Alistair Horne:

www.telegraph.co.uk/2017/05/26/sir-alistair-horne-historian-journaliist-former-spy-obituary/

His splendid trilogy of books on French wars are some of the best written history I know and worth regular re-reading.

Actually, I liked all of his Books! The three on the Franco/German Wars, plus the one on the Algerian War of Independence! A savage War of Peace! Still one of the best Books on the Topic! ok, well, at least in my Opinion! (and there is not much material on this war anyways)
