Even more worryingly I have yet to see any new tiles in the Raid series mentioned for 2016. Surely it isn't possible that the editors have run out of ideas for this excellent series already?

I agree wholeheartedly with you Painty.  This year (2015) there are going to be only THREE Raid titles.  Just three.  And so far there is no sign of any for 2016 up to the end of September!!!!!!!!  Our concern over the downgrading of the Raid series has been expressed to Osprey several times in the past.

Maybe Osprey hasn’t got the message that we like Raid books.  It can hardly be a question of Osprey running out of ideas for this series as I give them plenty of suggestions in ‘The Books I’d Like to Read’ column on a frequent and regular basis and I’m sure many other readers do also.

Come on Osprey, Raid is one of your better series.  Don’t let it die.

Its a fair point chaps, I hadnt thought about RAID but now you come to mention it it is noticable by its absense. That two great series that seems to have quietly been put to sleep!

The cynic in me is starting to think that maybe Osprey can’t find any worthwhile American raids that would make good saleable books.  Never mind all the great raids by other countries’ forces, it’s the Americans that seem to count when it comes to books at Osprey.  Have I got it right?  Even though this is all supposed to be about world military history, not just that portion of it that America has been involved in, Osprey is in the habit of “kowtowing to Uncle Sam”.  This might account for Osprey’s rather negative attitude towards the RAID series.

Hi Ken,

Hmmm, its a worrying possibility I'm afraid. Osprey does have form for that type of thing unfortunately. This would also account for the disappearance of Myths & Legends as well as most of them tend to be European, Middle Eastern or Far Eastern in origin. I hope its not the reason and am still holding out hope that Osprey will prove us all wrong but their silence on the subject has been ominously thunderous! That being said however I can think of a few US centric raids that have not been covered (Son Tay? Operation Eagle Claw?) so who knows...
