I’ve just read and enjoyed Campaign No.270 on the American airborne landings during “Market Garden”. Mr Zaloga makes a good job of relating the diffuse nature of the battle and interpolating how the US divisions interacted with the units of British XXX Corps.

I was especially pleased with the 3-D “birds-eye” battle maps in this book. Lately a lot of these are just computer-generated blobs of colour that are hard work to interpret. But in this book they show proper physical details and the two covering the action during the attacks on the Nijmegen bridges are excellent, really helping me to understand how this daring operation was carried out. And all three of Mr Noon’s pictures were first class too.

BUT... where is volume 2? We know the rest of Ospreys releases for 2015 and have some serious hints about the first few months of 2016 and there is no sign of a companion book to cover the Anglo-Polish operations. This is such a famous and interesting event that I cannot believe that there aren’t a slew of authors who could make a good job of this. Please don’t leave this job half done, Mr Cowper!

The second book in the Market-Garden series is due out towards the end of 2016.

Thank you Mike. Any chance of a hint about the author?
