Osprey will be working from home from Tuesday 17th March. We plan to continue all our operations, while reducing risk of infection by having staff work from home. Please note that we are doing our best to manage incoming post and parcels. For the time being please refrain from sending items to our offices and please assume that items that you have sent to us, have not arrived with their intended recipient. Our priority remains the wellbeing of staff, authors, customers, freelancers, suppliers and distributors. We would like to thank all for their support whilst we transition to virtual operations.

Are other Osprey customers outside the UK experiencing long delays in receiving books ordered and paid for?  I realise that the Covid situation has impacted international postage, but even before the outbreak it has been taking longer and longer for books to reach me in Australia.  January books, dispatched 29 January received 5 March; February books, dispatched 4 March received 4 May; April books (I didn't order any from March publication)  Naval Siege of Japan dispatched 29 April, still waiting for it, 4 print on demand books dispatched 26 May received 15 June; May books dispatched 1 July, who knows when or if this this arrive.  My point is, if print on demand books can be delivered in 3 weeks from dispatch, why do the newly published books take so long?  And at what point to I conclude that a book has gone missing and reorder it?  At the moment I am seriously considering the wisdom of seemingly throwing good money after bad and stop buying from Osprey.

Using Royal Mail from the UK to the EU or probably anywhere else is slow - see the incidents page. My longest time is March to June i.e 3 months and the shortest time is 4 weeks. My ongoing experience is that if you can bear the wait times, they will arrive, you just need patience (of a saint probably).

Postman just delivered the books dispatched on 1 July.  One month is about the same as other delivery times from items ordered on line from the UK.  The outstanding book from April has probably got lost, but I'll hang on a bit longer in case in turns up, stranger things have happened.

Good that you got a delivery. I also have my doubts as to when they are really posted. I get the messages but I'm not convinced that they are posted when they say they are. My impression after waiting anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months is that the delay between getting the email saying they're dispatched and actually being dispatched could be 1-2 weeks. The people doing the posting might not be in charge of the emails sent.

Royal Mail appears to be operating with reduced services. 2 weeks ago I got an empty package wrapped up in Royal Mail paper with a sticker saying "found open or damaged and officially secured". No sign of my books of course.

Shipping from the UK to Germany works fine for me and it takes about 7-14 days till I get the books after they have been dispatched. The last couple of weeks I have also the problem that the packages arrive me are damaged and you could look what is inside. But fortunately no books have been missing.

Hi all,

We’re very sorry to hear that some of you are experiencing significant delays in receiving your orders. As you have mentioned already, we are hearing reports of extensive delays in some regions, which are having clear knock-on effects on delivery times. Our distributors advise that, from dispatch, shipping within the UK should normally take 3-5 days, 5-10 days for the US and Canada, and deliveries to Europe and the rest of the world may take up to 28 days to arrive. If you have not received your order within the stated time frame please do get in touch with our customer service team who will be able to investigate further. Please note that books supplied through our print on demand service will be shipped separately and may take up to 2 weeks longer to be dispatched.
