has anyone ever heard of the Indian attack on the Spanish mission in San Diego in 1775 that resulted in the mission being burned down? this was not the first time a Spanish mission was attacked by Indians. if I recall correctly, in Arizona,Yumas burned down 2 missions in 1781,and in 1758 at San Saba in Texas Comanches attacked a mission and killed the priests.

You're talking the early histories of 2 very far-flung provinces of New Spain; however, some title about the missions in the Southwest US as vehicles for colonization (they were usually protected by a presidio) might be within Osprey's AO. It would be their call, but it's an interesting idea. |
