Stinger vs Hind would be good - in Rodric Braithwaite's book 'Afgantsy' it's suggested that the Stinger was not nearly as effective as is often claimed in the West. Hopefully an Osprey title could give a more nuanced view of the conflict than the simplistic freedom fighters vs evil empire that is so common in pop culture (Rambo 3, anyone?) Also, human wave vs Maxson mount seems rather one-sided for a duel ;)

Andyana - the same statement and analysis is made in the Russian General Staff's book on the Soviet-Afghan War. It appears to have done little more than to make the Hind's fly higher!

Yeah, the stinger was one of the weapons that the Hinds were prepared to go up against in the European theatre, so things like the engine exhaust baffles and countermeasures were swiftly fitted. The Afghan environment itself seems to have been more of a danger; hot, dusty and with thin air, bad conditions for flying heavily-loaded helicopters and executing combat manoeuvres. A duel title would still be of worth, though, to provide a more balanced look than we see today. On another note, I also think P-3 Orion vs Soviet sub is a good idea, but surely the Typhoon-class would rarely, if ever, encounter a Nato ASW aircraft? They were deployed in the bastion areas in the Barents sea, which were usually off-limits to Nato aviation. Perhaps something focusing more on general Cold War ASW tactics, like the Elite book on U-boat tactics, would be better? Great idea anyway, one that's sure to appeal to all the Tom Clancy fans out there!

@merkava72 - I'm aware of the two different types, hence my use of the word "partly"! Seeing as we're getting a book on a Grumman-built carrier aircraft vs Zero-sen in the Pacific, that seems pretty good to me.
