Posted by: .George Washington Hello, why not a COMBAT book on Spartan vs. Persian in the 400s BC during the Greek-Persian Wars? I own the ABSOUTELY superb CAM books on Thermopylae and Platea and would love to see this come to print. even in defeat at Thermopylae the Spartans killed more Persians than the Athenians did in victory at Marathon. I would love to see Peter Dennis and William Shepard team up to do this one.

I have no combat title but it seems that the books so far on this series seem to match any specific type of soldier/warrior against another specific type of dude. So it seems Spartan Hoplite vs. Persian Immortal or maybe Persian infantry archer of something like that would be better suggestion for the series. Persians and Carthaginians have many different types of soldiers of different ethnic background in their army as you might know.

Sorry, but it won't happen in the near future. Greek Hoplite vs Persian Immortal was one of the alternatives in the August 2013 Book Vote and as I recall it was crushed by Crusader Knight vs Saracen Faris.

I've just started work on something else, but this idea has its attractions for next (and Osprey can be assured of one sale!). When I considered it before I felt unsure that there was much that a Combat on the subject could add to what has already been covered in Campaign, Elite and Warrior. But this was before the first Combats were published. Now, having had a good look at these, I would approach the ideas with more confidence, and thanks for the encouragement, GW!. But we have to wait and see...
