Bouvines, s'il vous plaƮt! Sometimes even called the decisive battle of European history, and an important one even if you don't agree.

Is Georges Duby's book about it translated into English?

Sunday of Bouvines is not translated in English (weird). You may find it in Spanish ,German & French.

I found that study in English "The Legend of Bouvines: War, Religion, and Culture in the Middle Ages" .

And Dutch, which is how I know about it. Just wondering, thanks for clearing this up. So if there's no book about it in English, I'd say, Osprey, go for it!

Battle of Bouvines's 800th anniversary comes up on the 27 July. I've just been reading up about it on Brittanica-online and Wikipedia, and it would appear to be a colourful and profoundly important battle for Western Europe. It would make a great Osprey Campaign title, and after talking to several other medieval war enthusiasts, would be a much sort after title with so many nationalities involved (including England).

Have to agree. A major, major battle that was even pivotal to the direction of Western history according to some (France became a centralized state and John had to sign the Magna Carta).

I support this idea!
