Battle" of Caudine Forks - 321 BC,"An interesting addition to the campaign series books would be the Battle of Caudine Forks in 321 BC fought between the Roman Army and Samnites. I am putting the word "battle" in quotes, because there was no actual combat between the opposing armies. The Samnites tricked the Roman army into surrendering. The Samnites decided it would be better for future relations if they let the Romans go. Caudine Forks was one of the most humiliating defeats in Roman history. Therefore, Osprey could focus more on the consequences and/or legacy of this event as opposed to actual fighting. Osprey could also put an emphasis on how the Samnites tricked the Roman army in the first place. (By the way, this is my first post on Osprey Publishing!) Created on: 13/09/2014 19:42:00

Chalons 451?

I heard about a Chalons 451 AD Title being announced. As the author of a (yet to be published) book on the battle, I'm interested if anyone knows more about it?

The Ancient Greeks" color plate problems?,"Hi, new member here. I've recently discovered the Osprey book, and I'm quite intrigued by them. I finally decided on a title to purchase, and got it in the mail a few days ago.

The book was "The Ancient Greeks", by Nicolas Sekunda. I was really looking forward to the art by Angus McBride, but was somewhat disappointed to find that the illustrations inside the book had an odd yellow tone to them - so much so that the red-haired Athenian hoplite on the cover looked blonde in the corresponding plate inside. The pictures also looked sort of pixilated and grainy.

I'm not complaining or anything (I bought another title and it was just fine), but I was curious if anyone had experienced the same problem with the same title. I'm hoping it was a weird fluke, confined to only my book.
