Safavid Armies 1501–1736
The Safavid dynasty ruled Iran for more than two centuries, at various times controlling a major sweep of territories adjacent to Iran. During this time Iranian armies fought Ottoman, Mughal, Russian and other forces in a host of conflicts. The evolving appearance and organization of Iran’s fighting men is chronicled in this lively study, drawing upon the latest research.
Swedish Armies 1655–1721
The Swedish armies that fought in the Northern War of 1655–60, Scanian War (1674–79) and Great Northern War (1700–21) were at the forefront of European warfare in terms of their leadership, tactics, organization and equipment.
