In a philosophical mood this morning, I was struck by the great variety in the diaspora of Osprey enthusiasts. People all over the world sharing a common interest in military history - It's great!

And it isn't just this variety that impresses us, but also the mix of young and old readers. I suppose I can class myself amongst the former (just about), but I still have a fair few years under my belt as a member of the Osprey faithful.

There was one book that kicked it all off, a birthday present given to me by my father when I was nine. The book was 'Japanese Army Air Force Aces 1937-1945'. I unwrapped it, looked at my dad and said 'boy, do you know me well!'

I remember thinking how fantastic it was that someone could have organised material on a subject that I was always told was ridiculously obscure.

'Maybe you'll stop asking me so many bloody questions' said my dad, who despite being interested in World War II aviation himself, was frequently flumoxed when I came to him with questions about the 64th Sentai, etc. From then onwards, my Osprey collection gradually blossomed.

What I want to know is, what was YOUR first ever Osprey book? What was the first one you read that got you hooked?

Get in touch and let me know!
