just in case you missed the BBC2 documentary about William Marshal, you can still watch it on iPlayer here!

I watched it and found it very interesting, although it was always going to be a struggle to fit enough information about such a long, complex and accomplished life  into an hour long programme.

If you want to know more about William Marshal, his rise from penniless younger son to renowned knight, national hero and defender of the Magna Carta and the brutal mediecal world he lived in - then check out 'The Knight Who Saved England'.

Author Richard Brooks uses contemporary source material to develop new insights into the life and times of this remarkable knight, culminating in an analysis of his role in one of the most important battles in English history.

The book is abailable for pre-order now for £12.99 in the UK and $17.95 in the US, and will be out in the UK on the 20th of April. It is  also available as an eBook or PDF, so if you fancy it get your order in now!
