Fought on the 27th-28th May 1905, the Battle of Tsushima was the major naval battle of the Russo-Japanese War which resulted in the crushing defeat of the Russian fleet and the destruction of two thirds of its warships. This defeat is widely understood to be one of the immediate causes of the Russian Revolution that year.
