These are Paraguayan medals and an order all from the period of the Chaco War.

The first medal is the Order of Merit established in 1939. The front side in the blue band has the legend “HONOR  ET  GLORIA” , while on the reverse are the words “PRAEMIVM  MERITI”, with the date 1939 in the centre on the disc.

Military Merit Medal, “AL  MERITO  MILITAR” on the front and “VENCER o  MORIR” on the reverse, red and white ribbon, the medal is silver.

The Defence Cross,  the front has the legend “”CRUZ  DEL  DEFENSOR”, the           reverse has no legend, was the name of the recipient engraved on this blank side, again if anyone can confirm this please let me know.

Artillery Merit Medal, front has “VENCER O MORIR” (Victory or Death) the reverse has “HONOR  AL  MERITO” surrounded along the rim by the legend “REPUBLICA  DEL  PARAGUAY” on the top section and “FF.AA.  DE  LA NACION” along the base, gilt medal with black and green ribbon.
