I do not own a television. Nor do I feel especially nostalgic for any of the televisions I have owned in the past. Recently however I have become obsessed with trawling through second hand shops and looking at the old board games that they have.

Board games conjure up a number of happy memories from my childhood, and also a number of extremely fraught and bitter ones. My auntie is without question the most competitive person that I have ever met, to the extent that Trivial Pursuit is now banned from my parents' house after a particularly nasty argument one Christmas Day that saw me closer than I ever hope to come again to punching an aged relative.

As winter hits and evenings at home seem a lot more appealing it seems right to ask what other people's favourite board games are, be it for the enjoyment of the game itself or the memories that they evoke.
