Sneak Peek at June's Artwork

In Military History, Featured

Today on the blog we're taking a look at some of the artwork from our June 2019 publications. Let us know what you think in the comments section, and if there are any July publications you'd like to see the artwork from next month be sure to mention it below!

Duel 94: Walker Bulldog vs T-54 by Chris McNab

Artwork by Johnny Shumate

Our first plate, requested by GI Gene, comes from Duel 94: Walker Bulldog vs T-54, and shows the engagement around FSB 31 on February 27, 1971, with ARVN M41A3 tanks from the 17th ACS engaging T-54 tanks of the PAVN. The commander of the ARVN unit, Lieutenant Colonel Xuan Dung, ordered his gunner to engage the lead PAVN tank. The very first shot smashed through the lower armor of an enemy T-54, causing the tank to explode with such ferocity that it flipped over onto its back, with the remaining targets destroyed in the ensuing exchange of fire.

New Vanguard 271: US Navy Battleships 1886–98 by Brian Lane Herder

Artwork by Paul Wright

Our second piece of artwork was requested by David Hale, and comes from New Vanguard 271: US Navy Battleships 1886–98. It shows the monitor USS Terror close to shore, shelling the San Juan fortification of Castillo San Felipe del Morro and coming under return fire from Spanish coastal artillery.

Air Campaign 10: Six-Day War 1967

Artwork by Adam Tooby

Our final piece of artwork was requested by PAUL W, and comes from Air Campaign 10: Six-Day War 1967. It shows three Squadron 110 Vautour formations attacking Beni Suef on June 5, 1967. The Vautours’ strike pattern included two bombing runs – dropping four 70kg bombs on the runways in each – followed by several strafing passes. Armed with four 30mm cannon, the hitting power of a Vautour strafing parked aircraft was devastating.

Thank you for the name check!
Excellent artwork in these ones - Paul Wright and Adam Tooby are certainly the go-to artists for naval and aviation respectively. Their individual styles suit their subjects perfectly.

May I request artwork for the July reveal? Would it be okay for you guys to show something from British Airborne Soldier vs Waffen SS Soldier?
