RIP John Hill

In Military History, Featured

We are very sad to learn this morning about the passing of John Hill. John was a great designer of many great games including Squad Leader and Johnny Reb. We were privileged to work with him on Across a Deadly Field and I was lucky enough to meet with him on several occasions and will remember his enthusiasm for exploding donkeys with a wry grin. I only wish we had commissioned that book from him as well.

Our thoughts are with his family and all his friends at this time. He will be sorely missed.

Another of my heroes from my teen years gone along with Dave Arneson and Allan B. Calhamer, Sigh. Never grew up to be a wargame designer, but I have written some books on military and naval history since then.

An important contributor to the world of wargames whose influence was felt not only in his own games.
