We're not far off Raid 50: Heroes of Telemark, which publishes in November, and just like last year's Big Reveal we have another Raid coming in 2019!

Have a read of the brief decription below, and let us know what you make of RAID 51!

RAID: Operation Source: X-craft cripple the Tirpitz, Norway 1943

In September 1943, six British midget submarines crept into a heavily-guarded fjord in northern Norway to attack the powerful German battleship Tirpitz. The great battleship was a constant threat to the Arctic convoys, and one which forced the Royal Navy to keep a force of battleships constantly stationed in home waters to deal with the potential for a breakout.

After an unsuccessful attempt with manned torpedoes, a new and more sophisticated attack was then planned – Operation Source – using X-craft midget submarines. The submarines were to be towed to within range by conventional submarines, then penetrate the fjord and its defences, plant mines to detonate under Tirpitz – and then hopefully escape.

I have to echo the other comments, why only one? Is the serries only popular with the members? There are so many good possible titles that have been listed on here time and again.

A Good solid title there chaps! As pointed out by David it will nicely complement this years look at the air campaign against the ship.

I rather see Osprey do one quality title in a series than half a dozen pot boilers. That being said I would like to echo the call for the Kronstadt Raid to be covered though!

Well 1 is better than nothing but you can't tell me there aren't DOZENS of subjects for a RAID.And every body and his brother knows about the Tirpitz Xcraft raid, would rather see the "Kronstadt Raid" instead and yes where is the "Pebble Island" volume but I'm chuffed eh.

I am glad that Raid is continuing even at one title per year. I have just submitted five Raid suggestions via "Books I Like to Read" so hopefully Osprey will offer a monthly poll for this series in the future.

Yes a very welcome book indeed. It certainly makes me much more likely to buy the Air Campaign title. In fact in an ideal world they will both have the same author and form a complimentary pair.

now let's have "Pebble Island 1982" for the 2020 list!

Excellent choice. Will compliment the forthcoming Air Campaign book nicely. Now if only there were 6 Raid volumes coming out...!
